O jornal Mainichi Shimbun anunciou os vencedores da edição deste ano dos Mainichi Film Awards.
O prémio de melhor filme anime foi para The House of the Lost on the Cape, o filme anime que adapta a novel Misaki no Mayoiga de Sachiko Kashiwaba.
A animação é do estúdio David Production (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Cells at Work!), a direção é de Shinya Kawatsura (Non Non Biyori, Sagrada Reset) e o argumento é de Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden, Okko’s Inn).
Misaki no Mayoiga faz parte dos 3 projetos do Zutto Ouen Project 2011+10 (Continuing Support Project 2011+10) que estreiam em 2021 e comemoram o 10º aniversário do terramoto e tsunami que devastou a área de Tohoku.
O filme de animação em stop-motion “Pukkulapottas and Hours in the Forest” ganhou o Prémio Noburou Oofuji, que homenageia trabalhos de animação que oferecem novas formas de expressão criativa.
A cerimónia de entrega dos prémios deste ano será realizada a 15 de fevereiro no Meguro Persimmon Hall, em Tóquio.
O Mainichi Shimbun lançou o Prémio Noburou Oofuji em 1962, e é o mais antigo prémio de animação em andamento do Japão. O jornal lançou depois o Animation Film Award em 1989.
